Lights are truly captivating and it never fails to mesmerize its audience. Lights carry such spirit of entertainment in it especially when they are presented in diffirent colors, appearance and forms.Lights are very fun to watch and a certain province in the Philippines features colorful lights during their town’s fiesta to entertain the townspeople and the foreign and local tourists and visitors. They call this festival, Bailes de Luces.

BAILES DE LUCES 2014 – 2015

The Bailes de Luces celebration will start on December 30, 2014 which falls on a Tuesday and will end on January 5, 2015 which is Monday at La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Bailes de Luces is a week-long celebration and always take place on the 30th day of December and continues until the 5th day of January of the following year.

Bailes de Luces is also known as the Festival of Lights or Dance of Lights which is a model of a festival of thanksgiving and hope.

BAILES DE LUCES BACKGROUND

The town of La Castellana which is rightly located at the foot of the Mount Kanlaon that serves as the natural landmark  between Negros Occidental and Oriental features this very festive Bailes de Luces annually.

The idea of Bailes de Luces is to give thanksgiving for the received blessing throughout the years and the hope for a successful new year. All the 13 Barangays and the entire community gather together as one for this extravagant event that also promotes the town’s eco-tourism campaign. The highlight of this festival is the street dancing where each participating group uses lights as their props and embellishment as they gracefully dance  their hearts out. The colorful lights can mesmerize anyone who will watch the performances especially if you can see the lights dancing with the music.

BAILES DE LUCES: ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD

The modern day Bailes de Luces utilizes technology by using the Light Emitting Diodes (LED) that discharges and radiates the colorful and bright gleams of lights during the course of performance. This delightful performance reaches to its outstanding level because of the blending of dancing lights and the flamboyant, colorful costume and gleaming headdresses of dancers.

BAILES DE LUCES AND THE FILIPINO

Festivals show the different good traits of the Filipinos like the Bailes de Luces festival. Through Bailes de Luces you can see the unity among the people in La Castellana, Negros Occidental. Their unity is the reason behind why they were able to pull off a successful festival. Filipino’s creativity is also shown in Bailes de Luces festival because they were able to come up with artistic ideas that can make the festival beautiful and inviting. Their creative minds produce a successful, colorful festival like Bailes de Luces.

BAILES DE LUCES 2015

The Bailes de Luces will be celebrated on a Wednesday, 30th day of December 2015 and continues until the 5th day of January 2016 which will fall on a Tuesday.
