Last 2014’s theme of Pamulinawen Festival was entitled, “Steadfast” marking its 18th year of celebrating their town and its unique identity in terms of their culture and customs..
PAMULINAWEN HIGHLIGHTS
The word, Pamulinawen” is defined as the “Ilocano maiden.” Dulang Food Festival, Street Pageantry, Drum and Lyre Competition and Calesa Festival took place every Pamulinawen Festival.
People in Laoag City are known for their delicious delicacies and every Pamulinawen festival they are given a chance to show their culinary talents by participating in Dulang Food Festival. Wherein the participants will place their prepared foods in a long table where the visitors and the tourist will have a chance to eat all those delicious foods. The crowd are gathered together to witness the street pageantry wherein it showcases the culture of the Ilocano by dances and dramas. A drum and lyre competition between Laoag high school bands takes place wherein the winner will have a cash prize. A parade of decorated Calesa around the city takes place to entertain the town people then after the parade, the decorated calesa will be displayed in the stage of the Provincial Capitol.
