Filipinos boast of having close family ties; having said that, Filipinos believe that family bonding should be enjoyed anytime and anywhere. As most Filipino families live in one roof, this concept can easily be practiced, maximizing this opportunity and turning it into fun family bonding.

Filipino Family: Weekend Bonding Experience

Being free from the responsibilities of work and school, Filipino families would truly enjoy the weekend by spending quality time with the entire family. Weekend bonding experience does not need to be grand and neither should it cost much.

As part of the Filipino culture, dinner time is usually a time for the family. Mothers would mostly prepare a special dinner for the family during the weekend and spend the rest of the night watching TV and munching on junk foods at the same time. In some cases, an alternative to this would be dining out with the family and bonding over lunch or dinner in a restaurant and watching a movie afterwards. Such simple treats; but it reflects the love radiating from each member of the family.

It’s Summer Time!

For students, summer time is the most exciting time of the year. They heaved a big sigh of relief as they take their final exams as this would mean a few months of rest and a time to enjoy with the family.

Families in the Philippines consider summer as a time of travel and getaway with the entire family. In some cases, this is also an opportunity to meet up with their extended family and travel with them. As part of the Filipino culture, we treat our extended family as a part of us and the summer season is a perfect time to see and spend time with rest of the family as the children are on vacation.

Travelling would be on top of the list during this season. This may be a trip to the best vacation spots in the country or if there are enough budgets, a trip out of the country would be fun too. Spending a couple of days or a whole week in a different environment will not only allow you to relax and be free from all the stress, it can also give you a time to be closer and communicate more with your family.

In the Filipino culture, a unique family bonding experience would not require you to shell out a large sum of money. The most important part of this experience is to enjoy the time with your family, learn something new about one another and build a closer relationship.
